Ramani is a Consultant in Anaesthesia at University College Hospital, London and a National Institute of Academic Anaesthesia Research Fellow.

She is the Deputy Director of the Surgical Outcomes Research Centre (SOuRCe) within the UCL/UCLH Joint Comprehensive Biomedical Research Centre, and her research interest is peri-operative risk prediction and the measurement of short and long-term outcomes after major surgery.

She has been an elected Council member of the Royal College of Anaesthetists since 2008.
